The longstanding oral tradition of Inuit peoples is at the root of our project. Historically, though, the written word is the measure by which a culture is mapped, understood and grown. Identifying this point, preserving the language and making it accessible for both native people and readers around the world, is essential.
IPI Press is a not-for-profit corporation formed in 1993. Re-imagined in 2007, we believe the people and language of Inuit people remain in danger in our changing, political and atmospheric, climate. In the course of growing concerns over commerce and climate change, it is the people of the Arctic who remain unaddressed. Our publications will serve to address the issues through all available resources of literature, science and the arts from all the leading figures working in the Arctic historically and currently.
